ERRATA

June 1, 2007 |

Errata - This group of letters send shivers down my spine. The definition of the word is”errors in printing or writing especially errors noted in printed or bound material”. I know we are all human and mistakes are made, but how many new knitters and maybe even some old knitters know that publishers, yarn companies and designers now expect you to check their websites for mistakes in their published patterns.

In the old days (pre-internet) the publishers sent out little slips of paper that the store owners had to put in the copies of the patterns they sold. If you bought a pattern pre-little paper update you were out of luck unless you came back to the store.

Now, the onus is on YOU the knitter to find out is there is a mistake. So, before you cast on check with the website of the pattern creator, whether it be yarn company, magazine publisher or designer. If you belong to any knitting groups, clubs or organizations, ask them also. And search the internet for information about the pattern. Sometime you will find out more than you wanted to know!
