I have knit a lot of sweaters a lot of different ways, and I really love a raglan. They tend to fit really well because of all the shaping that is done to form the connection between the body and the sleeves, and you can knit them top down in the round and never have to sew a seam.
If you’re just learning how raglans come together, though, you might like to knit a pieced raglan (also, sometimes seams are good to add structure, and you feel like you’ve accomplished something when you have a whole front done, for example).
This raglan sweater knitting pattern from Craft Passion looks like a good one. It’s pretty basic, but adds stripes to the sleeves for a little more fun, as well as little lice stitch stripes on the body. You can of course knit the whole thing in one color, or make more stripes or whatever you like.
Do you have a favorite kind of sweater? I’d love to hear about it!
