There’s been a lot of talk lately in the knitting world about yarn substitution, and I noted when writing about the issue that I almost never use the yarn a pattern calls for.
But in this case I would make an exception.
The Zauberball Crazy yarn used in Kieran Foley’s Black Forest Ruffles pattern is a big part of what makes the pattern work so well. Having all those colors — he used two different colorways — makes the pattern stand out that much more and has the added advantage of making it look more complicated than it is.
Somehow this design reminds me of brioche but it’s stranded knitting with some fancy increases and decreases.
The pattern can be worked as a shawl of a scarf, and you can grab the pattern on his website or at Ravelry for $6.50. It looks like a really fun project to knit and wear for fall!
