Knitwear designer Kieran Foley shared a picture of her Coral Reef shawl design on Instagram and I was instantly captivated by it.
The colors are striking, of course, but I also love the kind of hourglass/teardrop shapes in the design, and how it plays with the light because of the eyelets and dropped stitches but also because the variety of yarns are slightly different in levels of transparency.
This is a perfect project for using up oddballs, and is indeed how it was designed as well.
It’s a great project for summer knitting and wearing. Definitely keeping this one in mind for reducing my stash of tiny leftovers and sample skeins!
Grab the pattern, which includes a chart, notes and tutorial on splicing, for $6 on Ravelry.

Fall will be here before we know it, and that means there are holidays coming right behind where we might be entertaining at home. It’s always fun to have a hand knit touch in your home for other people to see, and if you’re going to be in the kitchen all day you might as well have some nice knit dish cloths to use.
