22The Guardian Angel Knitting Program, now in its 17th year, encourages Australian knitters of all skill levels to lend their needles to a great cause.
This year the program is focused on children with cancer and is seeking hand crafted beanies, scarves, blankets, toys and other comfort items to be given to kids fighting cancer or to children’s hospitals in partnership with the Kids with Cancer Foundation Australia.
Knitters can find pattern booklets at Guardian pharmacies or Spotlight stores, or you can download the booklet as a PDF.
Items should be turned in at Guardian pharmacies by September 30. The group has a goal of donating 100,000 items to kids and families, so get those needles going!
If you’ve ever participated in this program I’d love to hear more about it.

Specific to knitters, you can join our Knitting Patterns Only group to get, well, knitting patterns, ask questions and gain inspiration for what to knit next.
Fall will be here before we know it, and that means there are holidays coming right behind where we might be entertaining at home. It’s always fun to have a hand knit touch in your home for other people to see, and if you’re going to be in the kitchen all day you might as well have some nice knit dish cloths to use.
