Caron has launched a new yarn, called Caron United, that aims to help the children of soldiers who have died in the line of duty as well as providing a good experience for knitters.
The yarn is 100 percent acrylic, made in the United States of imported fibers, and comes with 235 yards per ball. It’s medium weight and 16 colors, including red, white and blue, of course.
For each ball purchased (it retails for $3.49 a ball) 15 cents will be donated to the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, which offers college scholarships to kids who lost a parent in action.
That doesn’t sound like a lot, but every little bit no doubt helps. Of course you can also support this worthy cause on your own if it speaks to you.
I hope this Fourth of July finds my American friends doing lots of knitting, and the same for those of you in the rest of the world!
