One thing crochet has on knitting is the wide variety of amigurumi patterns — designs for sweet little animals, food and all sorts of other adorable stuff.
There are some great amigurumi patterns for knitting, too, though, and Knitting Bee has collected some great free knit amigurumi patterns, from tiny bears and chickens to seahorses, cows and more. (It doesn’t look like all of them are free, but they’re pretty low cost if not.)
I particularly love the anything animals, which were originally published in Petite Purls. It’s a great basic shape that you can turn into a person or a variety of animals. They’d be perfect for a storytelling basket!

Fall will be here before we know it, and that means there are holidays coming right behind where we might be entertaining at home. It’s always fun to have a hand knit touch in your home for other people to see, and if you’re going to be in the kitchen all day you might as well have some nice knit dish cloths to use.
adore these! How charming
