Double knitting is one of those things, like so many things in knitting, that seems really hard until you try it. Once you’ve worked a little bit you understand what’s happening a little more and it’s not nearly as hard or as scary as you thought.
If you’ve never tried double knitting, I have a good tutorial over at About.
If you want to make something really bold and dramatic using the technique (and you might as well), check out this cool zig-zag double-knit infinity scarf from Modern Crafting. Graphic patterns like this are great for people new to double knitting, and you could even practice by doing just one repeat of the pattern to make a hot pad.
Have you ever tried double knitting? I’d love to know what you think of it.

Fall will be here before we know it, and that means there are holidays coming right behind where we might be entertaining at home. It’s always fun to have a hand knit touch in your home for other people to see, and if you’re going to be in the kitchen all day you might as well have some nice knit dish cloths to use.
