I’m not one of those lucky knitters with a husband who proudly wears their handmade creations. Let me rephrase that — I wouldn’t want him to. This man lives in work boots and grease. He’s a full-time grease monkey, always elbow-deep in diesel, oil, or tangled up in some piece of rusty machinery. If he’s not under a tractor, he’s hauling hay, mucking about in the paddock, or brushing off some mysterious farm-related residue I don’t even want to identify.
So no, my delicate hand knits are not destined for his rough-and-tumble wardrobe. But if he suddenly transformed into someone who appreciated fine wool and cared about not staining it beyond recognition… and if I found myself miraculously inclined to knit something just for him…
This. This sweater would be it. It’s absolutely gorgeous — rugged, classic, and cozy enough to almost survive a man like him (with very supervised wearing conditions, of course).
Maybe someday my son will want a hand-knit sweater. He’s 22 though, and it’s not looking good. If so, The pattern is free, here
