knit and crochet now season 7 giveaway

Congratulations to Laurie!

A new season of Knit and Crochet Now! is on its way, and it’s super exciting to see how the show has changed with new host Deborah Norville. Known as the anchor of Inside Edition, she’s also an avid crocheter with her own yarn line.

As usual, a range of guests will demo projects and share tutorials with viewers. This season those guests include editor of Crochet! Magazine, Ellen Gormley; in-house designer for Annie’s Signature Collection and Annie’s knit and crochet magazines, Lena Skvagerson; authors Robyn Chachula and Kristin Nicholas; and crochet designer Rohn Strong.

The new series includes 13 episodes and began airing on public television stations through Create TV on April 5. The show airs at 6 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Produced by Annie’s, viewers will be able to enjoy over six hours of knit and crochet tips and techniques. In every episode, Deborah will introduce the viewers to new unique yarns, patterns and products. Knit and Crochet Now! designers will share their expertise in knit and crochet skills, techniques and knowledge in color. Viewers will not want to miss the popular segment “Stitch of the Week.”

I don’t have cable/satellite and can’t get PBS thru the antenna. In fact, other than about 20 stations of shopping networks and languages I don’t understand, I only get 3 stations, and those not reliably. When I visit Mom, who gets about 9 PBS stations via cable, I try to watch as many knitting shows as I can. Thanks for the giveaway!

I watch on PBS, but have to miss several each season, so this would be great. I have learned so much from the show and really look forward to seeing it every chance I get.

I would love nothing more than to win this series. I love Deborah Norville’s yarn an her patterns. They are so simplified. I have not had the chance to see this show. I am sure it is amazing. Only way to find out would be to win the series. Thank you for having these contests. They are so much fun.

The show inspires me to learn more about crocheting as well as knitting. I loom knit, so there are not too many loom knitting projects shown, but watching regular knitting is also inspiring! Thanks for what you do!

I so enjoy Knit and Crochet Now. The program has helped me through several “dry” spells. Now hooks are flying again. Thank you

We just recently started getting the PBS channel that carries it. The station rarely comes in so I’ve seen half of 2 shows. I get another PBS station clearly and I watch the quilting and sewing shows on there.

I only get Knit and Crochet Now two days each week on my PBS 39,Allentown, PA. (swamped by traveling shows). I’m having trouble getting instructions for projects. Right now I’m looking for Episode 704. Can you help me? I’ve keyed in knitandcrochetnow.com & many sites show up. Please help.

Learn a Flower Bobble Technique to Knit a Fun Shawl

Generally I like knitting patterns where I feel like you can use whatever yarn you have (because my stash is big enough and I want to use it, thanks) and make a successful project. This is one of those times when a special yarn makes the process that much easier.

The Floral Bouquet Shawl from Xandy Peters uses a specific extended color pooling yarn from Feisty Fibers, which allows you to place the bobble flowers with increasing frequency as you knit the project.

It starts with a solid color yarn, then the two color yarn is added in, and you make a bobble whenever you encounter the color pops. This would be hard to replicate with other yarn that doesn’t have the extended color pooling built in.

The background of the shawl is ribbed, making the project reversible.

The shawl uses fingering/sock yarn and comes out to be an asymmetrical triangle that’s 54 inches/137 cm long and 36 inches/ 90 cm deep and 60 inches/150 cm across the top edge.

Xandy says the pattern is for intermediate to advanced knitters. Knowing how to work traditional bobbles would probably help, but there’s a great video tutorial for how to work the floral bobbles so you can practice on other yarn or even incorporate the bobbles into other projects.

The bobbles are five-petaled flowers but they also kind of look like starfish to me, which could be fun on a child’s cardigan or other pattern. They’d also be fun on the leg of a sock or around the brim of a hat for extra whimsy.

The pattern includes photo and video tutorials, and written and charted instructions. It also includes tips on what to look for if you choose to use different yarn for the project, and instructions on how to dye your own yarn to use in the project.

If you want to give it a try, you can find the pattern on Ravelry.
