I think this holiday break is going to be the time I really try to get my six-year-old interested in yarn crafts. I guess I should say she’s already interested, but I want to sit with her and try some things.
First off I think will be a simple French knitter (aka I-cord maker). We’ll probably try finger knitting as well.
And I’d like to try out a knitting loom as well. This isn’t a technique I use very often, because I feel like needles are faster, but it might be a little easier for her because she can hold on to the loom with one hand and work the stitches with the other, making the whole thing a little more stable.
Whether you’re new to loom knitting or use your looms regularly, Stitch & Unwind has a great collection of loom knitting patterns to get you started. In particular I like that super colorful hat (which is a baby hat) and the fun slipper patterns.
Do you knit with a loom? I’d love to hear about some of your favorite patterns!

It is about time you got something here and in the newsletter for loom knitting. I LOVE my looms. I do knit hats with little knit flowers from the flower loom for cancer patients at our local cancer center. I have also been doing scarves, scrubbies and dishcloths. I would love to see a giveaway on her for the looms and some of the accessories. Keep sending the ideas!!!
