Have you seen the website Kinds of Blue? It’s an Australian project in which 14 young people chronicle their experiences with depression with the aim of exploring what is often unexpressed and letting others know they are not alone.
The comics are available as a printed book but they’re also online, and one of them features knitting in a lovely way.
“Knitting Therapy” by Karen Beilharz and illustrated by Kathleen Jennings illustrates how knitting can help people get through their days by giving them a constant that is under their control, even if it doesn’t always work out exactly as planned.
I think we all know that feeling of comfort derived from knitting after a hard day, and knitting and other crafts have been shown to help improve mental health and your outlook on life.
It’s a lovely little story; go check it out!
