I love the graphic nature of quilt blocks, and it’s so fun that around where I live there are some quilt blocks painted on buildings and signs as art.
The Cali pattern from Berroco is the knit version of a star quilt pattern. Designed by Amy Christoffers, its worked in Garter Stitch squares (made up of triangles of different colors) and is actually pretty easy to knit.
You’ll want to use it like a shawl or a small lap blanket, or even make it into a wall hanging!

We’re a big Studio Ghibli household, and while they are sometimes very protective of their copyrights (as evidenced by the number of patterns on Ravelry that were removed from the service when it received a takedown notice back in 2021), there are still a fair number of Totoro knitting patterns (as well as other designs I’m sure we’ll get to someday). Let’s check them out!
The pattern costs $6 – it is not free
