I love wide knit headbands that you can use as earwarmers. They don’t mess up your hair like hats can, and you can wear them all day, which is great for me, because I’m always cold, but it’s more accepted to wear a headband all day than a knit hat.
Not that I care about your judgement.
Anyway, the Blue Leaf Headband from Adrienne Krey is a great choice for gift knitting. It uses bulky yarn, a fun lacy pattern (though I’m sure it’s still plenty warm) and in the called-for yarn it only uses about a quarter of the ball so you can make a bunch without a huge outlay in supplies.
Bonus! She also sells a coordinating pattern for mitts, the Lacefield Mitts to be exact, that would make a great set you can knit up in a weekend.
