I love hearing the stories behind knitwear designs. Whether a design was inspired by color or something in nature or traditional designs, it’s so cool to have that extra layer of the design’s history when you knit something.
The Peaceful People Hat by Jennifer Berg is lovely in its own right, but it adds a cool layer of meaning to the design when you know that the designs on this colorwork hat were inspired by the jewelry and pottery of the Hopi people (who are also known as the Peaceful People, thus the name).
You can get the pattern for $5 on Ravelry, and there’s a link in the pattern description to learn more about the Hopi.
