I was tempted to call this one a tin soldier — or a wool soldier! — but even if you just call it a toy soldier it’s super adorable and easy to knit.
JustJen made this sweet little guy as a Christmas ornament, and it’s quick to make with scarp yarn. The body is worked in one piece, with arms added on and lots of stitched details for extra cuteness.
Of course it’s classic in black and red, but it might be fun to make a rainbow of toy soldiers using a bunch of different bits of scrap yarn.
I love the idea of a garland of soldiers, or using them to decorate gift bags. So sweet!

Fall will be here before we know it, and that means there are holidays coming right behind where we might be entertaining at home. It’s always fun to have a hand knit touch in your home for other people to see, and if you’re going to be in the kitchen all day you might as well have some nice knit dish cloths to use.
