A couple of years ago I knit my daughter a mermaid tail blanket for Christmas. Hers is pink and purple, and it’s really cute, if I do say so myself.
But if there’s one thing cuter than a little girl in a mermaid tail blanket, it’s a cat in a mermaid tail blanket.
The Fluffy Blanket Fort on etsy has a pattern for a small photo prop knit mermaid tail blanket, which can be used for little cats and dogs (and probably human babies, too).
The pattern runs $4.32, and it uses a cable pattern to make the scaley effect on the tail. You can work it in one color or two depending on the look you’re going for.
Have you ever knit a mermaid tail blanket? I’d love to hear about it!

I’ve been writing about knitting online for a long time, and a lot of things have changed. But one good thing I think has changed over the years is that fewer people see knitting as a seasonal activity. Most people don’t seem to think anymore that there’s a time when it’s too hot to knit or too hot to wear knits.
