I love a good, easy baby blanket pattern, and one that you can use for stash-busting is great, too. I recently gifted a Garter Stitch Stripe Baby Blanket to some new parents and it has quickly become a favorite because it’s super squishy and not at all fancy. (While heirlooms are great, I want to make things people will actually use.)
It’s the same with the Quick and Simple Striped Blanket that Chelsey at Tastefully Eclectic knit. She used the Unending Love pattern from Expression Fiber Arts. She used four different colors of yarn, but you could make each stripe a different color or throw in a couple more colors, whatever you like.
The pattern is super easy, using Garter Stitch, Stockinette and Seed Stitch, so it’s great for newer knitters who need practice with basic stitch patterns and following a knitting pattern with easy instructions.

Thanks for sharing, Sarah! You’re absolutely right, this blanket is PERFECT for beginners who want to practice new stitches outside of garter!

I submitted my comment before I finished reading. Whoops! I agree, I prefer knitting things people will use. And thanks for spelling my name right. You wouldn’t believe how rarely that happens. 😛
