A themed hat can be a Halloween costume for a little kid almost by itself or with a same-colored onesie or other neutral clothes.
This strawberry hat by the Chilly Dog is the result of a request to knit a Strawberry Shortcake hat for a baby niece. It’s super cute, with a little brim and a top knot.
She also knit a little skirt and legwarmers to go with it, but only the hat pattern is here. Still, you could probably find similar patterns for a little one in your life if you’re so inclined.
This would be so adorable on a little girl for her first Halloween (my daughter was too little to go anywhere her first Halloween, but she posed for pics in a holiday-themed onesie and this pumpkin hat, which was really too big for her preemie head but still awfully cute).
Have you ever knit a Halloween costume? I’d love to hear what you made.

Fall will be here before we know it, and that means there are holidays coming right behind where we might be entertaining at home. It’s always fun to have a hand knit touch in your home for other people to see, and if you’re going to be in the kitchen all day you might as well have some nice knit dish cloths to use.
