I designed this Captain America placemat/trivet/doll blanket (you’ll see if you click) about five years ago, so it seems more than time to share it again.
This one was really fun to make, working from the outside in in red, white and blue yarn. I worked the star kind of freestyle as I knit the blue section, but you could also use duplicate stitch to make the star in white after the knitting is done.
It’s a great addition to any patriotic celebration, backyard barbecue or Avengers movie night.
I’ve been writing about knitting online for a long time, and a lot of things have changed. But one good thing I think has changed over the years is that fewer people see knitting as a seasonal activity. Most people don’t seem to think anymore that there’s a time when it’s too hot to knit or too hot to wear knits.
