I have always loved Houndstooth, as a pattern in general and as a knitting design element in particular. It’s really fun to knit and looks a lot more complicated than it is.
Houndstooth pairs with simple stripes and an interesting construction technique in the Houndstooth and Stripes cowl pattern from Susan Gressman.
Use the same two colors throughout or change one — or both! — of the colors on the second part of the cowl. Either way it’s sure to bring a little warmth and knitting fun to your days.
It’s a free pattern download from Ravelry.

Specific to knitters, you can join our Knitting Patterns Only group to get, well, knitting patterns, ask questions and gain inspiration for what to knit next.

Fall will be here before we know it, and that means there are holidays coming right behind where we might be entertaining at home. It’s always fun to have a hand knit touch in your home for other people to see, and if you’re going to be in the kitchen all day you might as well have some nice knit dish cloths to use.
