It has been a really weird year weather-wise in most of the United States, and maybe other places, too. Here in Arkansas we had snow in May, a pretty mild June and now we’re getting a lot more rain than is usual in July.
All of which can leave a knitter really confused as to what to knit (I knit a hat and scarf a couple of weeks ago, am currently working on some socks, but think I’m about ready to go into sweater knitting mode).
It’s no help that Knitty’s first fall surprises are here.
One of the offerings is the Checks + Balances pullover, a gorgeous checked number I swear I owned in black and red wool when I was in high school. I may just have to knit this one for the nostalgia factor. There’s also the Running Gag socks pattern, which features dropped stitches. You’ll have to go read the story to learn why the socks have this name.
In addition there’s a technique update this “issue,” with videos all about different bind offs.
Are you thinking about fall knitting yet? I’d love to hear what’s on your needles.
