I always love Knitty surprise day, because it is, in fact, a surprise to get a couple of new patterns from the web magazine.
This time around (which is still first fall), we’ve got an amazing baby blanket called Dunfallandy by Teresa de Roulet. The center panel is made up of cables that turn sideways and meet, making for a really interesting design and a show-stopping baby gift.
There’s also the Swink! pullover by Amy O’Neill Houck, which is a sweet little cropped garment worked in crochet in the round with knit edgings. This one is extra fun because it’s a worksheet pattern so you can make it to perfectly fit the recipient, and it will be great for layering throughout the transition seasons.
See anything that catches your eye? I’d love to know what you’re queuing!

Fall will be here before we know it, and that means there are holidays coming right behind where we might be entertaining at home. It’s always fun to have a hand knit touch in your home for other people to see, and if you’re going to be in the kitchen all day you might as well have some nice knit dish cloths to use.
