Sometimes pieces of knitting worked flat that aren’t seamed end up having rough edges, especially when they’re worked in a textured stitch.
Gift of Knitting has a great tutorial for using a two- or three-stitch I-cord edging on projects to give them a nice clean edge. You have to add stitches to the sides of the project in order to do this, but the result is really pretty.
I don’t usually work a special edging on projects (except as an applied I-cord edging worked after the main knitting is done from time to time), but I could see how this would be nice on a scarf or a blanket.
Have you ever done an edging like this on a project? I’d love to hear about it!
