I like cowls more than scarves because they tend to be smaller, faster projects and all the warmth of the garment goes right where you need it, around your neck and the opening of your coat.
Cowls are kind of the washcloths of the garment world because they are a great way to learn new skills on a small scale or in a way that doesn’t have to fit a body.
This Cozy Lace Cowl from Red Heart would be a fun way to sharpen your lace knitting skills. The lace pattern is pretty easy, it’s a small project and it’s worked in a fun ombre yarn that makes the knitting seem to go faster as you want to see what will happen next.
The pattern is available as a free PDF download.
