My daughter is 8, and she and most of her classmates are pretty obsessed with finger knitting right now. They love being able to make something wherever they go, and luckily I’ve donated a lot of yarn to the school so they always have supplies at the ready.
But it’s hard to know what to do with these chains of knitting, or how to make them into other projects that are usable.
Red Ted Art shared instructions for a finger knit beanie from Bean Creative, and I think it’s an amazing idea for using finger knitting in a completely different way.
She also has fantastic instructions for a finger knit Santa hat, which might be the perfect project for your tween this time of year.
Do you or someone in your family finger knit? I’d love to know what you do with all the pieces you’ve made!

Fall will be here before we know it, and that means there are holidays coming right behind where we might be entertaining at home. It’s always fun to have a hand knit touch in your home for other people to see, and if you’re going to be in the kitchen all day you might as well have some nice knit dish cloths to use.
