With Memorial Day and the Fourth of July coming up, it seemed a good time to share a somewhat patriotic knitting project.
The American Flag Knit Dishcloth by Designs by Emily uses alternating rows of knits and purls to make the stripes and Moss Stitch to make the stars, though there aren’t as many as are on the real American flag.
This cloth is really lovely knit in red, but I’m sure it would be great in white and blue as well, or you could even try a red, white and blue multicolored yarn.
Either way, this is a fun little project that will be useful throughout the summer when flags are flying high and we have lot sof summer barbecues to clean up after.
The pattern is available on both etsy and Ravelry and costs $1.89 either place.

Why is it not okay to kneel but it is okay to use the American flag as a rag to wash dishes? This is not an item for decoration. It is an item to be revered. We keep it from touching the floor, we don’t fly other flags higher, we are proud to see it flying on a tall flagpole. This is not a way to honor combat losses or to show pride in our country.
