Counterpane is composed of squares each made up of 4 smaller squares.
You can use DK or worsted/Aran weight yarns for a bedspread or afghan/blanket size.
Finer yarns could be used to create a baby blanket but you can certainly work any number of squares in any weight yarn to create whatever size you desire.
Knitting the squares are a great take along project
The beauty of a counterpane blanket is that it can be easily adapted to suit your preferences. It’s a great way to use up scraps of yarn and leftovers from other projects.
One benefit of knitting a counterpane blanket is that it can be worked on in stages, making it a great project for busy knitters. Each square can be knit separately and then assembled together later, making it easy to take along with you on the go.
Another advantage of this pattern is that it is easy to customize in terms of size and colors. You can use any weight yarn and adjust the number of squares to create the size you desire. This makes it a versatile pattern that can be used to create a variety of different blankets, from baby blankets to bedspreads.
