All I want to do, as soon as the weather starts getting cool, is to knit blankets. I normally like blankets worked on one piece or in big panels because they keep you warm while you are knitting them, but I also like this block afghan from Red Heart Yarns.
It’s worked in blocks, where the center square is knit first, then the borders are picked up and stitched around. A variety of color combinations come together to make a harmonious blanket, or use odd balls for the centers and make the borders similar colors to tie it together.
This would be a great travel project because one square’s yarn is not that much to carry around. It would also be a fun group gift knitting project, with each person taking a block or a style of blocks to work on.
